NEW: Saint Martha Apron Collection
Patron saint of homemakers, cooks, and domestic workers.
I initially did not plan an entire collection dedicated to one saint. I went back and forth between making another Holy Women or a Harvest Blessings collection for the fall, but neither quite felt right.
But, then, I reflected upon this past week and how it went in regard to the making of this collection amidst my many other duties. Many of us are exactly like St. Martha.“Martha, Martha, thou art careful, and art troubled about many things: But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41:42)
I have made seven aprons named after St. Martha and six other saints who lived out their vocations as mothers, homemakers, servants, and holy women.
“Our Lord’s words teach us that though we labour among the many distractions of this world, we should have but one goal. For we are but travelers on a journey without as yet a fixed abode; we are on our way, not yet in our native land; we are in a state of longing, not yet of enjoyment. But let us continue on our way and continue without sloth or respite, so that we may ultimately arrive at our destination.”
-St. Augustine's commentary on St. Martha
